Pomegranate Extracts (Punica granatum)

The pomegranate is a unique natural product. Pomegranate seed extracts are extremely rich and nutritious, a rare source of powerful omega-5 conjugated fatty acids, beneficial antioxidants, and a wide range of safe, phytoestrogenic compounds. The fatty acids in our pomegranate extracts exhibit natural soothing properties and help to moisturize and protect dry, thinning skin, bringing elasticity back to mature skin tissue.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil (Olea europaea)

People have used olive oil for centuries for personal care. It is a great skin moisturizer, in part because it is a very rich source of oleic acid, an omega-9 fatty acid. Oleic acid is the most abundant fatty acid found in nature and the primary oil naturally produced by skin glands. Olive oil also contains at least four different antioxidants, which can help neutralize damaging free radicals that can lead to skin aging. Olive oil can also provide a safe and natural lubricant, as well as help soothe discomfort caused by irritated skin.

Cocoa Seed Butter (Theobroma cacao)

Cocoa Butter contains natural antioxidants, such as Vitamin E as well as a number of other vitamins and minerals. Vitamin E helps to soothe, hydrate, and balance the skin and also provides the skin collagen which assists with wrinkles and other signs of aging. For centuries pregnant women have used to cocoa butter formulations to prevent and treat stretch marks, but this pleasant-smelling substance is added to countless other topical preparations, such as soaps, lotions and emollient creams.

Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera)

This is a great oil for general moisturizing and serves as a protective layer, helping to retain the natural moisture in your skin. It also acts as mild oil to help soothe inflamed and irritated skin. The small molecular structure of coconut oil allows for easy absorption through the skin, giving it a soft, smooth texture. It makes an ideal ingredient for the relief of dry, rough and wrinkled skin. Coconut oil is about 50 percent lauric acid, a rare and beneficial fatty acid. Overall, coconut oil contains 92% saturated fats, which are beneficial for promoting optimal skin health.

Distilled Monoglycerides

Distilled monoglycerides are typically used as a food ingredient to stabilize other oils, such as in peanut butter or margarine. We use a product derived completely from plant oils. The purpose of this ingredient is to help keep all the oils in MoisturePom from separating.

Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia cerifera)

Candelilla wax is derived from the leaves of the small Candelilla shrub native to northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. It is typically used both as a food additive and cosmetic ingredient. The purpose of this ingredient is to help keep all the oils in MoisturePom from separating.

Why is a waterless formula so important?

One of the important functions of normal skin tissue is to repel water. The natural oils in skin help protect your skin and body by sealing out water. So one might wonder, why do most skin care products contain water? One reason that water is used in most skin care products is because it is a very inexpensive ingredient. Why do you use only plant-based oils?

We set out to create a superior product, one that would be both very efficacious and safe. That high standard calls for the inclusion of pure plant-based oils ONLY. And the plant-based oils we selected are loaded with nutrients, such as fatty acids and antioxidants. These nutrients are easily absorbed by the skin, allowing your tissues to utilize these nutrients to help rebuild your skin cells, while leaving your delicate tissues feeling more supple, rejuvenated, and moist. Plant oils absorb quickly into the skin tissue without blocking or sealing skin pores. Plant oils don't leave a greasy coating on the skin, and plant oils wash off easily with soap and water.

In contrast, other common oils used in many skin care products are derived from petroleum, such as mineral oil and petrolatum. These oils have absolutely no nutritional value. They form a seal on top of the skin, providing a protective layer, but at the same time, blocking the skin pores and preventing the skin from functioning as nature intended.

Why do you use food-grade ingredients?

Your skin tissue is your body's largest organ. Although skin tissue is designed to protect you from outside elements, it does absorb, so the harsh chemicals and preservatives found in other products can be absorbed into your bloodstream. At Pomegranate Health, we don't think you should put anything onto or into your body that is not safe enough to eat!

What is the difference between a vaginal moisturizer and a lubricant?

A vaginal moisturizer helps relieve the symptoms of vaginal dryness, whether you are sexually active or not. A vaginal moisturizer can be used any time, and should help you maintain sufficient vaginal moisture to alleviate discomforts associated with vaginal dryness and menopause, such as vaginal itching, burning and irritation.

A lubricant is intended to provide added lubrication specifically for sexual activities. Most lubricants are water-based, so they tend dry out before sexual activity is complete, and they may also contain chemicals that can irritate your vaginal and vulvar tissues.

Is MoisturePom messy to use?

Plant oils are easily absorbed by skin tissue, but can be a bit messy at first. Many women have reported that it does absorb quickly, resulting in minimal leakage. We recommend using before going to sleep, as this gives the ointment time to be absorbed by your tissues. You can wear a panty liner to protect your bedding and clothing, although you may find this to be unnecessary.

Can MoisturePom be used as a lubricant?

Yes, MoisturePom can help with lubrication for sexual activities. It is made from 100% natural plant oils, which will provide a natural and comfortable lubricating action. In fact, as a lubricant, MoisturePom will probably last longer than water-based lubricants, which can dry out quickly.

With regular use of MoisturePom as a vaginal moisturizer, your vaginal tissues will be nourished and normal tissue function restored. As such, many women have found they are now able to produce enough of their own lubrication without the use of a sexual lubricant.

When should I use MoisturePom as a lubricant?

Can I use MoisturePom with a condom or diaphragm?

Why did you develop this product?

Many of our customers were using our AgelessPom pomegranate seed oil blend as a vaginal moisturizer and lubricant. They wrote to us and called to let us know the product worked better than anything else they had tried. But they did not like using something that was so “messy”. They asked us to make something that would have a thicker texture and therefore would be easier to use. The result is this new product — MoisturePom Vaginal Ointment.
